This in an unusual picture as it shows a hippo stalking and trying to catch a bird. Hippos are grasers and not supposed to eat birds??? The pic was taken at one of the dams in the Pilansberg gamer reserve in north western South Africa.

Hi Merve.
Yes very unusual but interesting photo.Almost silloutte on the subjects but nice definition and sharpness on the hippo.Light reflection on the water has creaed a great subdued foreground and background. Well timed which is difficult to capture in these quick moments.Well done and TFS.

Hi,
He might have just tried to kill, not to eat. Hippo's are very aggressive and kill often what is in the way. Each year they kill more human than lions do.
