In our staff village we have a large herb garden which is also used by the hotel kitchen. I love nosing around in this garden as there are always some insects on the flowers. I found this stunning blue metalic beatle. We thought metalic paint is our invention, but our creator invented it millions of years ago.
Taken with my old Canon PS A85 and a home made lens. |

You got two of them, Andre. Well done! Try a sharper focus next time you nose around your garden.

Very ncie capture!
Two bugs at the same time!
Very good "metalic" colours!
TFS!
Hi Andre,
well composed, very pretty picture with amazing but certainly realistic colours. Looks phantastic.
As for the sharpness, I very much agree with Ram. With digital cameras coming equipped with a good macro at very affordable prices, this kind of macro improvisation by "home made lens" means missing chances to obtain a really good picture. I just tried to do some postwork sharpening on your picture, but in vain. Details are too soft.
Anyway, the picture with its stunning colours is well worth showing, and so is your note.
Thank you! Best regards,
Peter

Hi Andre,
Wonderful composition with pretty glittering colors. The focus has gone soft, but lovely shot in any case.
Well done.
As has been said focus the focus is soft but an intresting image, the blue one looks like a Longhorn bettle of some sort. and the orange one if it had been taken in europe I would of said was a Rose Sawfly, maybe you have them also in SA? should be easy enough to check if it's on the SA list of species?
