I took this shot of this waterbuck, Kobus ellipsyprymnus, bull at a wildlife reserve in Port Elizabeth on the south-east coast of South Africa. The species is not native to this region and is more commonly associated with savanna woodlands in the north-eastern parts of the country with the distribution spreading down into Kwazulu-Natal and along the northern borders with Zimbabwe and Botswana.
The species has however been extensively reintroduced beyond this natural range within South Africa onto private game reserves and wildlife parks and in many cases has become a problem competing with the local species in these regions.
Only the bulls have horns, and I'm sure everybody knows that this species is easy to spot as a result of the white ring around the rump.
This photo was take with my old F-601 on Fuji film and then scanned in at a high resolution. I have cropped the original slightly and adjusted the contrast a bit before posting here. I don't recall the shutter speed and f-stop. |

Nice colours and good details.
For a scanning the quality is very good.
