A closer image of the Gemsbok to show the lovely markings in the faces of these animals. This was taken in the Kgalagadi Transfontier Park which is situated in South Africa between Botswana and Namibia.
I watched a number of males clashing horns like this but it was not yet the rutting season so this was more playing and preparing for what is to come. The Gemsbok will kill with those horns if necessary and, with a sturdy bush behind him, even a lion must be carefull. The background is the scanty vegetation in the Aoub river bed which only flows once in approximately 100 years. |

Hi Robin,
You are introducing me to a new animal. I don't remember seeing these in Africa. Wonderful close-up of this pair showing off those nice faces and eyes with good colors and details. I love the antlers!!!!

Dear Robin,
Beautiful capture of Gemsboks clashing horns. Good POV & composition. I have marginally sharpened the image by doing WS. Hope you like it. TFS.
