A photographers favourite the Meerkat(Suricata suricatta)is found in the arid regions of Southern Africa.Myth has it that the San people(Bushman) entrusted the Meerkat as the guardian of their water sources, as they are the most vigilant of all animals and has no need for water.

Dear Kevin,
I do like the close-up of the Meerkat's face with the seeds (or whatever these little yellow bits are).
However - I think - you should have taken the photo less fast, herby achieving a greater depth of field; i.e. only a small part of the animal's face is actually in focus...
