This is the female Cape Sugarbird. It has a much shorter tail than its male counterpart (I have posted two photos previously of the male).
This bird thrives on Protea flowers and this photo, therefore, depicts it in its most typical environment.

wonderful capture with the Protea flower. Quite a natural pose

Hi Mike,
Magnificent image of this female sugarbird.
The long tail should play a very important role on this specie during fly.
I like a lot the inclusion of the flower, it adds some nice colour to make even more appealing the picture.
