[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Black-collared Barbet, Lybius torquatus, is a common species widely distributed from the Eastern Cape to Ethiopia and across to Angola and Zaire.
The name barbet comes from the French word barbu meaning bearded.
Barbets are usually to be seen in pairs in acacia veld and open dry forests, particularly along streams and rivers where the growth of trees is greater. They are common visitors to gardens and will use breeding logs put up in trees. Sometimes numbers collect in the same tree and make an awful din.
Their diet consists of fruit and insects, including termites and beetles.

This fellow had just chased away a group of starlings that were competing for the branch and rattled his displeasure at them.

Hi Irmgard,
A beautiful capture!
I like so much the clear details you got on this specie, with its gorgeous red cololour around the head, that make it look so appealing.
You did it great with the exposure to nicely blur the background.
Congratulations and thanks for share it.
My best regards,
JM

Good pov with clarity, vivid colour and details

Hi Irmgard,
a nice picture even if it's a bit soft but you have explained
it in you note why. Otherwise you should get pictures with very good sharpness with this lens, I know I own one.

P.S. debating the orientation of my "Swimming Upstream" was a great challenge. The next one shoud be just a little easier. (I hope ;-)
