[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I already uploaded several Impala portraits.
You can find them in my gallery or in my Kruger National Park travelogue.
They are common in Kruger (100000-150000 approximate). Kruger Park is approximately 20000 km2. So there are at least 5 impalas per km2...:-)
This is a female Impala. A male you can find here
I took so many Impala images 'cause they are quite common and there were a lot of opportunities but the main reason I photographed them a lot, was 'cause they are beautiful animals.

Hi Annick,
don't think you can ever have too many shots of these Impala's personally, they're great. Like the central composition here and the lighting is superb. Great expression and eye contact, a very good protrait indeed.

Hi Annick,
The backlight is super, it gives the impala a mysterious, almost fairytale like aura and appearence. I specialy like the sunlit fur on top of her head and the beautiful atmosheric colors of the background.

The head-on POV is very striking.

How long did you stay in Kruger for? Did you always have a guide with you or did you just drive off on your own?

hello Annick, I really like the light in this shot. I like the way the slight backlit creates a nice outline to highlight the animal against the subdued bg. The shallow dof is excellent in isolating this beautiful animal from the bg. It’s a really good pose head on, and composed appropriately in a central way. Another beautiful image from the awesome location you are located in. thanks a lot for the recent kind words with my pictures. I really do appreciate them. Very beautiful shot with a great straight pose from the impala... as straight as it gets :) The light like everybody has already said a million times is beautiful. I love the white patches on the face that are very fluorescent and are highlighted.

I don't know how you take those incredible pictures, one after another.
Do you have some "Dr. DoLittle" in you?
Do you have a magic way of mesmerizing them?
I just LOVE the POV in this shot.
The expression is priceless.
I agree with you that impalas are some of the most beautiful and elegant animals to grace the Earth.

You have her full attention Annick. Looking at this animal straight on like this you get the sense of their speed and agility. The very large eyes and ears (their first lines of defense) of this animal show well here. Your shot is very well composed with excellent colour and detail seen on the animal. Depth of field is very effective in showing the animal while muting down somewhat the natural habitat.

A back-lit image of this high quality is rare to see.
Though the entire image is perfection incarnate, I like the blue on the ears, eye-brows and snout.

Annick, Very nice picture. The rim lighting highlights the profile while at the same time the shadows are adequately lit. The sloping grass and the out of focus background enhances the image. I love this picture. TFS.
