The longest river in South Africa(2200 km). The source is in Lesotho where the rainfall is 2000mm p.a. and the river flows westward across 3/4 of South africa to the Atlantic where the rainfall is 50 mm p.a.
This photo was taken 10 km downstream of the augrabies waterfall to show the sculpting force of nature through this arid landscape. The river is important for irrigation and hydro power
