Perfectly taken Gerhard. Armour is so detailed, sharp and colorfull. Great BG, pose of this little crab and its proud 'face' ;-) Interesting note also. I saw these animals for first time month ago on my Bulgarian holidays - they're great and funny.

A great short Gerhard. I love the slate blue of the ground against her orange body with a touch of green above.

Crab photography is still unknow thing for me.
This is composed very well. I love the low angle here. Good light and details. Sharp.
Beautiful symmetrical image. About your question. ISO 400, F16, 1/200 (max with flash for me). And 500D was missing also from parametres. Actually surprise for me. I expected ISO 200 and F11. Somwhere I had reswitched into noisy ISO. For happiness we have NeatImage.

Gerhard this is a great shot, so clear, sharp and detailed. The colours really stand out against that diffuse background and your low POV (how did you get that low?) really makes for an intimate shot. Everything works, this should be on a magazine cover :)
