Velvia colours today, Gerhard :-) Wide angle lens helped you to make this amazing pictures. Lovely colours and composition with blues, greens and rhinos. Interesting note and great souvenir from meeting with friend. Great post!

i like your note on closed and open systems..
thermodynamically i suppose although open systems exist..overall they must be closed and gradually revert to no energy difference
i like the open wildlife reserve concept..it allows migration and predation on a correct scale....i remember the story of the lions who wouldnt attack the over abundance of water buffalo to order and ate the bongo...so reducing drastically its numbers...another closed system failure..
:)
ps i like the shot..:) its has the atmosphere of nature and africa

Hi Gerhardt,
I love good landscapes, and this one is VERY good! This really conveys a sense of how vast the Savannah is. Beautiful colors, the exposure looks to be right on the money. The clarity is superb. It is always good to see air that is not heavily polluted. Just a great overall scene to soak in.

It's a wonderful landscape that gives a very good feel for this country where you live Gerhard. I love the popcorn clouds, blue sky and lush green color..The brown line of dry grass on the horizon, illustrates the attempt at containment, or the "closed" system you speak of. Very well done.
Thank You!

Lovely landscape, Gerhard. Beautifull sky and clouds. Did you use a polarising filter, or is it just the wide angle lens? Great shot!

This is a great landscape shot with a perfect exposure, the animals look peaceful in this beautiful land. I'm guessing those are white rhinos knowing that they're grazers, and seeing that there's not much browse that black rhinos feed from. :)
Lovely shot Gerhard!
It has quite idyllic look. Blue sky, green grass, wide space. If not the rhinos I would thought it was taken somewhere in Europe rather than Africa. Somewho it doesn't suit my image of this land.
Anyway, it's beautiful.
VERY WELL DONE!
PS. I like to read your notes a lot!

Personally this is very good for me as whenI think back on SA, I think of lots of sky and this has it! It's also sad for me because this was my last day there and it brings memories of going to the airport. Thanks for posting and making me stop and think.

It is a beautiful landscape that could be many places, but the wildlife on the land definitely makes it only Africa. Well shot Gerghard, and thank you for showing us this area of the world where many of us would love to go, but know that we won't. THANK YOU...

Hello Gerhard
I really like this shot - the vibrant colours of the sky and landscape first attracted my attention - but it's one of those shots you can look at for a while and find new details all the time - but without it looking cluttered. It's a lovely simple composition and the rhinos and antelope are great.
Thanks for sharing

Gerhard, a beautiful and broad perspective. What a privilege to have such a view.
Excellent composition, lovely shades of blue.
I like saturation.

and there to meet me, was . . .
Many fond memories of this one, Gerhard. Hope the prosperity bores you this year.
Found a lovely new birding site - told you on the phone, I think. Also Rondebult and Austin Roberts in PTA, when you are around here again
Beutifull rendition with this lens, well done

Not talented only in animals but also in landscape!
Sharp and well exposed, I love the the depht and the immensity we can feel looking at it(wide angle view). Composition is well balanced and I like the light fall off on the edge of this picture (result of the cosine law of course) that darken the sky in the upper part and bring back attention on the horizon.
Excellent work and TFS.

Hi Gerhard
The scenery is already beautiful without the rhinos but they are definitely a bonus. I like the huge amount of sky with the fluffy clouds. Pretty colours.
Regards Toni
