Three White Rhinos came out of the bushes surrounding this little dam. I was photographing some other birds at the time and did not even notice them there until they were almost at the water's edge. That's what happens when you keep looking through the camera's viewfinder!

This particular location has proven successful for myself as well as some close friends of mine that have regular White Rhino sightings here, particularly in the winter months. The elusive Leopard has been seen in this vacinity quite frequently by tourists. Elephant and general game are abundant in this vacinity in the winter months and the afternoon sun makes for wonderful lighting, leaving us just enough time to scramble back to camp.......

Great trio, Sheriff. I like the different angles they have from your position, also the different grades of illumination.
Worth to go to favs.

Regards, Petru

Wooow Sheriff!
Amazing rhino portirait! You are very lucky man to see so much of power in the same time!

Very nice shot of the three drinking together here Sheriff. Great detail and timing. I see the small birds behind them..I understand that some bird species actually follow these large mammals around, waiting for "excreta" to pick through for undigested seed & such.. Well done & Thank You!

Good capture, maybe a little light on contrast, but still a good post TFS

Not often that you see three such big rhino together. Not being one who goes to Kruger, I do not see many rhino. A little soft focus unfortunately and I think you could have opushed up the saturation a bit, but thank you for sharing.

Sheriff, what a nice picture.

Excellent pov and a great moment.

I like colors, lighting and composition too.

Brilliant Picture. Nice trio of Rhino.
Well played Sheriff.

Good STUFF!!! Love the way the light and shadows are captured. Well done. Keep up with the good work...

Hi Sheriff!

Nice picture of those rhinos drinking at the river. Light is beautifull. The front view and the 3/4 position of one of them define well their shape.
1/100sec seems quite slow for a 313mm (35mm eq.= 500mm). Do you use a tripod or any other kind of support?
I have seen pictures taken with that lens and they seem slightly sharper.
Still an excellent shot and TFS.

PS.: Wellcome on TN and keep posting us pretty images like this one.

Great boys!! You must be a pro!!

Three??? not every day... well done Sheriff, nice colors and composition, great moment!!!

Hi Sheriff,
Super capture!
Myself I'd most likely stay away from those guys...
Good side lighting bringing life to the image, fine composition with good balance!
Greetings,
Pablo -

I like the different grades of illumination too. The one in the shadow is less detailed, but there is still enough details there though. Nice to see those beautiful guys.
TFS

Sheriff
Im going to print this on a poster for my lounge if you dont mind.

Well done! You have managed to get a setting which provides good detail for both shady and sunny parts of the shot.

Hello Sheriff,
It's a great shot! Interesting to see three of them in quite similar poses. The quality is very good, nice lighting too.
VERY WELL DONE!

Hi Sheriff
Still busy trying to catch up on my long overdue backlog so I am still visiting some of your earlier postings to deliver a couple of well deserved smiley’s.
This is a lovely capture of the trio in the late afternoon sun. Was this perhaps taken at the Nsemani dam near Satara? That is were I saw my last leopard, but at the lookout on the other side of the road.
Anyway, I like your tightish crop with this composition. The colours are very natural and you show a good amount of details. You did well to manage the fading light and although the two rhino's on the left caught a bit of shade one can still see enough of them.
Very well done and TFS.
Regards
Loot

Sheriff, most of your photos are very soft, you need to sharpen them after re-sizing them for TN. This one's not too bad but could still do with some sharpening. I'll try a workshop to show you how they can be improved.

I love the formation of the Rhinos! Interesting lighting and POV! Great DOF!

Hey Sheriff!

A very nice photo this one too, your really know how to handle the camera. I like the lighting very much. Its fantastic that you got to see three Rhinos at one time. Very nice detail and clarity. TFS
