Hi Charmaine
Nice movement you captured from this seagull and presented in a lovely composition. The only problem is that it is very soft on details. I am trying to figure out where the problem lies, but I am really not sure. I would doubt that it was camera movement as the 1/500 shutter speed should pretty much have taken care of that. That leaves the focus plane as with f/9 aperture you should have had a relative forgiving DOF. Unfortunately with this specific photo it is rather difficult to see where the focus plane was, but it does look like it was on the frontal part of the rock which the gull stands on.
I suspect you probably realised this when you posted the photo, but even so decided to post and share it with us, because of the interesting stance and for what ever other reason this photo might have a special appeal to you.
Anyway, good effort and TFS.
