[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This picture of the Cape Francolin was taken during our December holiday at Vermont in the Western Cape. The white sand made it difficult for the correct exposure, but I would like to share it with you.

The Cape Francolin is a fairly large gamebird, (40 to 42 cm), endemic to southern Africa. It has mottled brown plumage and red legs. It is a common resident of the fynbos and surrounding dense bush found in the south eastern parts of the country. In the drier parts it inhabits dense riverine scrub.

Francolins are very rare birds on TN, so thank you for sharing this one with us, Anton. Your cape francolin has lovely patterns and colors on its feathers. The details are sharp. I like the pose with the foot up. Well balanced composition and good DOF.
TFS. : )

Hi Anton,
A proud bird very well captured!
I like the low point of view, seems like the bird is looking down on you...
Great clarity in colours, and a fine composition... The feather coat is well reproduced!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Anton,
The white sand might have been difficult, but your exposure is spot on. I really like your low POV, which shows the size of the bird perfectly. I really like the posture of it. Great colors, details and DOF.
TFS,
Niek
