Greater Blue-eared Starling (Lamprotornis chalybaeus). Habitat is thornveld and mopane woodland. Common in the north-east of Southern Africa.
I took this pic at a picnic spot in the Kruger National Park, South Africa. They are very common at these spots and the rest camps where they look for food scraps. They come quite close to you and it allows for nice close pictures.
Their colours are brilliant and the sun reflects of their feathers beautifully. They can become a bit of a nuisance when they grab food out of your plate when you look away.
