[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This spider fascinated me. He (she?) parked off next to my back door light, obviously knowing that insects would fly towards the light. And he had a feast. Sorry, I do not know the name.

I love spider and this one is fascinating. Its definitely a "Hairy Field Spider". I think this is a member of the Family: Araneidae and Subfamily: Araneinae. It is most likely one of the following Genus: Araneus, Neoscona or Pararaneus. I have to see the abdomen to make a choice. The color looks like a Neoscona. Maybe you can dig a bit deeper if you'd like to ID it.

Its shows the details nicely on the head. My only nit is that you could have improved the DOF. F5.6 at 1/400 on a 70mm lens, could have been F8 at 1/200 giving you the same exposure but a greater DOF leaving the back more in focus. NIce shot!

Not so nice spider, but ever so nice picture, I hope you doomed it afterwards. Vert "nice" looking gruesome.
The BG can use a bit of NI, otherwise I like the POV and pose. Groetnis
