Hi Viv

What a great shot you captured here considering the fact that this bird sits in deep shadow and you did not even apply a fill-in flash.

An excellent composition with the owl being framed by thick branches on all sides except on the right. The colours are great even showing off the unexpected pink eye-lids. The details are fine and the DOF covered the range of the bird very well. Since it is a fairly large bird perched up in a tree and you are in a car way down below you obviously could not change your position much apart from maybe driving a little forward or backward. So, evidently there was not much you could do to alter or choose a better BG. However, I believe it came out rather well except maybe for the bright OE patch to the right of the bird (but that is being hyper critical I do admit). As mentioned you had to deal with adverse lighting conditions due to the shade and the harsh sun breaking through the holes in the leaves in the BG, but you still managed to control the exposure very well.

Great work and TFS.
Regards
Loot

Hi Vivian,
The framing of this owl by tree limbs does not disturb me at all. For me this is how one might expect to see an owl during day-time. Besides this shot has all the other positive attributes, such as sharpness, good lighting and comp. Nice to see!
TFS, regards, Ivan

Hello Vivian , A Great shot from the owl , great compositie colours details pov and bg ,Good Weekend .Teunie .

With its drooping eyelids, the owl seems sleepy, Vivian.
Very good shot from an effective point of view. The bird is well framed within the thick branches of the tree.

Hi Vivian.
You have taken a beautiful shot with excellent composition, charming photo model, perfect DOF (details and pose of the owl are superb and BG is well blurred), exact cropping. But only CA are noticeable. I know this is peculiarity of applied lens. They can removed by PS CS2. My compliments and best wishes. TFS.
Alexei.
