Brownhooded Kingfisher This species can be distinguished from other similar red-billed Kingfisher by its brownish head streaked with
black, rusty patches on the sides of the breast and well-streaked flanks. Differs from Striped_Kingfisher by all red, not black and red bill, and by the lack of a dark cap. Habitat : Thornveld, open-broadleafed woodland and coastal forest. Often found far from water. Has adapted to suburbia and is common in gardens and parks. Common on the north, east and south, being absent from the drier west.
