Ad.is unmistakable with matt black coloration, bright yellow bill, red eyes and legs. Imm; is a grey version of ad. and has a black bill and dull red legs. A noisy bird, more often heard than seen, but it frequenltly ventures into the open, especially at dawn and dusk. Habitat : Marshes and swamps with a thick cover and reededs and other aquatic vegetation. Ciommon in suitable habitat throughout the region except the dry west.

Hello Farid,
I really like this picture of these unusual birds (for me) but also for its POV, details, composition and colors. It’s nice to see them in their natural environment. I think those birds are really nice and that you were lucky to see them, well done!

Farid I enjoyed the detail on the face especially since it is hard to capture on a black bird. It probably would have been a better shot without the brown reed in the foreground but that was not under your control. However the green reeds seem to be in good placement and give the photo depth.

I liked your POV and the contrast of the photo as well as the color. Nicely done.

Hello Farid,
Very nicely captured moment of these beautiful birds. Their red eyes and legs and yellow beaks are really stunning! Nice composition in their natural environment. Pity about the reed though.
