Stalked Eye Fly - these little fies about 6-9mm in lenght are found in the coastal regions of tropical areas. a Good friend of mine Lambert Smith who is a Entomologist (Amateur) say that there are two species and that according to fossils found of these creatures, they have evolved with some species having the feelers on the head. look closely and you will see the feelers on this specie in front of the eye.

According to BugGuide this is the Taxonomy
Kingdom Animalia (Animals)
Phylum Arthropoda (Arthropods)
Superclass Hexapoda (Hexapods)
Class Insecta (Insects)
Subclass Pterygota (Winged Insects)
Order Diptera (Flies)
No Taxon (Acalyptratae)
Family Diopsidae (Stalk-eyed Flies)

Hello Quinten,
This is a remarkable shot and an excellent contribution to TN, the Stalk-eyed Fly being a rarity on this site.
This is well presented with good detail and composition.
Well done!
TFS, regards, Ivan

Hi Quinten,
This is a great macro-shot with very good details and DOF,
the entire insect is in focus and the focus in BG fade out nicely. Good composition and POV.
Very well done.

Venter,,, hm and relation with my friend Japie.

Hello Quinten,
Very spectacular species and nice POV/composition. DOF almost perfect. There's some noise visible but that's a minor flaw that can be easily corrected.
Good job!
Best greetings and TFS,
Michal

Hi Quinten,
What an amazing fly you show here. You succeeded to make a very sharp picture of this rather small insect. Very precious contribution to TN.
Best regards
Anne

Gotta tell U that I LOVE the single hair "eyebrows"

It looks a bit like a model of the Mars-explorer that I might have glued together in a moment of pure madness!

What a catch, what a shot!

Hello Quinten,
I like this beautiful and interesting macro ! This insect is new and strange for me.
The "+++" : subject, POV, composition, exposure, sharpness, DOF, background, colors, note...
The "-" : nothing...
