[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I decided one afternoon late to go for a quick drive out of Nossob camp (Kgalagadi TFP) before sunset, about a 100 meters north of the gate I found this dead tree and thought of taking some sillouettes as the sun sets, but as I got closer I saw the Lilacbreasted Roller hunting, quickly mounted the Sigma 600 mm f8 mirror on the Minolta X300 on the camsteady bracket and aimed, I took quite a few photographs of the bird flying off and this was the best one I got. I focused on the upward branch and hoped I would have enough DOF to get the roller in focus as well. It could have been a little sharper.

I had the privilage of seeing the Roller catching a scorpion, slamming it against the branch untill dead and then eating it at leisure.

very good timing, but sharpnes isn't good and a bit more noise.

Nice action, but unfortunately a bit too noisy and focus soft on the bird's face.
TFS.
