Spotted Hyena

Listed as Least Concern as the species remains widespread in Africa, and the total world population well exceeds 10,000 mature individuals. There is a continuing decline in populations outside protected areas (and even within some protected areas) due to persecution and habitat loss, although this is not sufficient to warrant listing in a threatened category.
Spotted Hyaena are relatively widely distributed in Africa, south of the Sahara. Their distribution is patchy, especially in West Africa, with populations often concentrated in protected areas. More continuous distributions persist over large areas of Chad, Central African Republic, southern Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Botswana, Angola, Namibia, and parts of South Africa.

Hi Ferran. The Spotted Hyaena is such a strong looking animal. Built for pure power. I like the way you have the refections in the water. They look unsure about going to the water. Great natural colours. well taken TFS.

Hola Ferran
splendida cattura di queste iene in una immagine dalla fantastica composizione con gli animali che si riflettono nella striscia di acqua, molto bella anche la loro postura con lo sguardo che spazia lontano, buona nitidezza, bellissimi i colori e la luce.
Grazie e complimenti.
Saludos
Maurizio

Hello Ferran !
They have such bad reputation, and they are not so beautiful, really, but they are still very interesting (and useful) animals and it's nice to see them on TN, sometimes. I love this picture. The pose of the Hyaenas is wonderful, what are they looking at with such intensity ? And their reflection on the water is just splendid, as well. Beautiful composition, great POV. Very well done !
Valérie.

Hello Ferran,

A great capture of these Hyenas with nice coloration & details. Hyenas are ferrocious hunters with great stealth.

Very nice POV, pose & BG.

Well done & TFS.

Umar

Hola Ferran,
an eye catching capture, outstanding composition from an excellent point of view. Thank you!
With best regards,
Peter

Hi Ferran,
The reflections of the hyenas have created a well balanced photo with good natural light.Seems like the hyenas have found something of interest as they are both looking in the same direction.Sharp focus and in their natural surrounds.TFS.
