On the way from the ngorongoro crater to the serengeti np we saw a lot of zebras and antilops.
A lot of had these pose you can see.
We asked ourselves why are they doing that?
And our guide told us that that´s the way how they look for enemys like lions or cheetahs.
everyone defends the other wiht looking in the other direction.Very intelligent I think^^
These two zebras I liked best because of the colours
one is very old(black strong colours)and the other not very young but not so old as the other(you can ssee on the brown colours)
best regards Toba

Hi Toba!

Somehow I never came to see a shot of zebras with different colors and it looks very fine! I also like their act, I too think it is intelligent from animals to do so. And it looks especially fine with all those stirped legs side by side in the middle! TFS!

Best regards,
Andor

Hi Toba

You have captured an excellent zebra shot here of two animals doing what they sometimes do for extended periods of every day. Standing in opposing directions they rest their heads upon each others back and thereby relaxing the neck muscles from keeping the head upright, but still being able to look around for predators as you mentioned in your notes.

These are Grant's zebra which is one of five different zebras in the so-called group of Plains Zebra.

Grant's zebra - Equus burchellii boehmi
Upper Zambezi zebra - Equus burchellii zambesiensis
Crawshay's zebra - Equus burchellii crawshayi
Chapman's zebra - Equus burchellii chapmanni
Damara zebra - Equus burchellii antiquorum

Then of course there are still the other zebras that do not form part of the above group.

Cape mountain zebra - Equus zebra zebra
Hartman's zebra - Equus zebra hartmannae

And the last one which is seperately listed.

Grevy's zebra - Equus grevyi

Your photo is nice and sharp and showing very clearly the plains environment with the outstretched grassy territory of the Serengeti. I like the composition and the POV with the casual incidental presence of the (what seems like) Thomson's gazelle feeding in the background. The colours are natural and the lighting was well managed.

Good work and TFS.
Regards
Loot

Hello Tobias,
Zebras are natural subjects for photography, since they have such photogenic looks!
These guys pose nicely and make a fine frame with wildlife...
Good colours and details, a well composed presentation!

:-) OK-

Hi Toba,
A nice capture of these two zebras. A very good composition and excellent details. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Hiya Toba,
THis is a very beautiful capture, and I love the fact that it's in the wild that you got them vis-a-vis a zoo!
The pose of the zebras is also very different and beautiful...
Very well done!
Cheers!

Hello Tobias,
I'm very impressed by your capture of these two Zebras in a perfect pose and against a beautiful background of the grassy plain with grazing Gazelles. The light is beautiful and the details very sharp. I found your not very interesting too. Well done!
TFS and have a nice weekend, Ulla

Great moment you captured. These two together are great - you can really see the wonderful pattern of stripes (are they black on white or white on black? ha ha) with the two side by side.
Great shot!

Hi Toba,

Man, this is an amazing shot! Absolutely great compo, can't be any better. Perfect focus, colors, bg and sharpness. The only - very little - thing I don't fully like is the frame: by my taste an inner thin white - outer thick black combination would look better. But it's a minor thing and doesn't ruin the masterful image at all.
Congrats, tfs, greetings aus Ungarn, László

PS: "Toba" is a volcano in Indonesia, on Sumatra island. :)

Hallo Tobias,
schönes, klares, gut komponiertes Foto - die reizvolle Pose dieses Zebrapaares vor einem gut gesetzten Auschnitt der Steppe perfekt wiedergegeben. Eindrucksvolle Reise.
Mit Dank und besten GRüßen,
Peter
