[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Dimorphic Egret Egretta dimorpha is the most common Egret found on the coastline of Zanzibar. This bird is of interest because it is taxonomically ambiguous - it is part of a complex of species with Little Egret, Snowy Egret, Western Reef Egret, and others, all of which have at some points been considered conspecific with Little Egret (Egretta garzetta) of Europe.
It is always difficult to take pictures of flying dark birds against the sky. But this was not the case in Zanzibar. First the sky is of a beautifull dark blue and second the strong sunlight is reflected by the shallow sea and the birds illuminated from below.

Hello Tom,
This is a wonderful in flight shot.
You've nailed the bird very well.
Composition and exposure are excellent and the details in the feathers wonderful.
Very nice light and blue sky against wich the egret does stand out perfectly.
Only thing I would have added is USM in photoshop.
Not only that de bird becomes a bit sharper due to that, but details also will pop up even more beautifully than they are already.
Thanks for sharing.
Warm regards and have a nice sunday,
Harry
