Hi Ralf,
Sorry to have to muck up your note. We are just about on the western range limit in Tanzania for this bird. Not Cercotrichas. To observe for the separation; black malars extending into conspicuous black spots extending back onto the flanks; blackish legs (one of the first kickers for the separation from C. leucophrys which have them flesh-colored); rusty-orange primary edges; no white in wings; though not visible in this photo - the rectrices don't have subterminal brown band and white tips to the lateral rectrices (good for leucophrys); bill here is totally dark (C. leucophrys has the lower mandibular base flesh-colored). So, what is it? Cichladusa guttata (Spotted Morning-Thrush). Nice photo!

There are so many birds that I am seeing for the first time. This is one of them. A beautiful capture of this Thrush. Colors and details are excellent. The face and plummage are wonderful.
