In the beginning the mother holds the young in her hands. When the herd moves, it attaches itself to her belly. Later, the young is going to ride her back up to the moment when it separates from its mother. Seniors and mainly subordinate males take care of the members of the herd. When a panther approaches the herd, males assume enemy pose and do all they can to hound out their foe by their enemy behaviour.
