Hi Tobias , nice photo of these two giraffes , caught at an interesting moment , somehow the idea of giraffes fighting has never occured to me , I guess there is no end to what a fellow will do to get the lady :-)

Very nicely captured. I think that without actually being there to watch the fight, it might be somewhat difficult to show this action in a photograph. Your description comes in very handy here :) You show this very nicely, with very good exposure, colors and composition. Very nice work. TFS. I am sure it must have been a thrill to watch.

Hello Tobias, this is a very excellent capture of the action seen in this fight for the girl. I had never even heard that Giraffes do this. Very nicely done too with an excellent composition, detail and colour seen in the shot.

Brilliant capture of these two Giraffes having a fight. I expect the horns are quite soft even though they made a loud noise! Very sharp details here and beautiful colours. The background looks nice and lush! Well done!

How fortunate you were to get a trip to Tanzania at your age - I had to wait a lot longer. These fighting Giraffes are wonderful! You caught the action perfectly and with fantastic details of the beautiful animals. Excellent colors, setting and composition.

Hi Toba

Lovely action you captured from these gentle giants. It is amazing to watch them going through this mock fighting, which sometimes are not such a mock after all. Normally this activity does not harm or injure the giraffes. However, I have seen where one has knock the other so hard (and through some flook it must have been on a nerve spot), but the affected giraffe fell down like a dead duck and it did not make a move for ±3 minutes. Stone cold lights out. It was actually funny watching the "winner" standing around in sheepish concern.

I like the deep colours of your posting which made it all too much clear that these are male giraffe. With age the males tend to get much darker than the females and another give away is the clear bold patches on their horns. Females have a tuft of hair growing over the top of the horns giving it a sort of paint brush effect.
