The wildebeest -also known as the gnu is a large antelope. The bull's deep grunts sound like a giant croaking frog. Because of its appearance and spirited behavior, Dutch settlers in South Africa named the animal wildebeest, which means wild beast.
Migration of more than a million wildebeest, at its peak in the month of May, is joined by other animals. The animals migrate to open woodlands to feed until November, then return to the Serengeti.

Like the male, the female, called a cow, has horns. She is smaller than the male. The gestation period is eight and a half months, producing one offspring. The calf is able to stand within minutes of the birth. In a few days it is able to keep up with the herd.

Wildebeest
Height: 45-55 inches at the shoulder.
Weight: 350- 550 pounds.
Habitat and Range: grassy plains and open woodlands in southern, central, and eastern Africa

Sebastien,

I like your post and must say that it has sharpness and clarity. Also the reflection is shown nicely (Good Composition). Well Done & TFS, Sheriff.

Good post, a small overcropping of the right side of the picture is the only real nit, otherwise, well done

Thirsty indeed. Nice shot, good composition and repition. Nice moment captured. Only critique is that the focus is a tad soft.

Nice note and TFS

one of my favourite african plains animals in a very wet and greatful drinking position...are we to take it that is not the mara river..:)
you got the correct number and all very intent on the job in hand...good colour and grouping..the little crop on the left...minimal..and the sharpening..something to strive for..the water and the ripples add foregroound interest
w/s for some uplighting..ps i cloned out the shady character in the background...that is the coolest tool we have for digital imaging..
especially if you have acne...:)

Hi Sebastein

Beautiful Sebastien!
Interesting animals well shown!
Thanks,
Dave

Hi Sebastien,

I really like this picture. It creates a sense of anticipation. You just expect a croc to leap out of the water in front of them, and go for one of them. Good focus and DOF. Well done.
