Came across the lioness choking this wilderbeeste. She had just taken it down. It was still alive when we got there. I did not realise it at the time, but I looked at the pics later, I saw that the wilderbeeste was pregnant - so sad .. yet the lions have to eat .. but atleast they only kill when they are hungry, unlike some of us that kill for pleasure.
The lioness was hunting with her mum. She tried to grag the wilderbeeste away but was still tired from the chase, so mum walked over, grabbed the wilderbeeste by the neck and dragged it away like it was the easiest thing in the world. I have pics of the shoulder muscles on mum while she is dragging the wilderbeeste away ...
If you look closely, you can see the wilderbeeste fur in the lioness' mouth and she seems to have a special claw (I was fiddling with my lens while the guide was explaining and focusing on keeping my hands from shaking too much .. ) The lioness was about 6' away from us at the time. |
