| this picture, in the Matopos national park, was taken from about 5 metres away, with nothing between us but grass. We had approached (with careful instructions from our ranger) to approx 15 metres. After that, if the rhino is curious, he will approach. You simply have to stay low and quiet. He did approach and gave us the experience of a lifetime. |

Impressionnante photo. La masse de ce magnifique Rhino blanc est bien rendu et la profondeur de champ parfaite.
Bravo.
Its a great story, you must have been with a very knowledgeable guide, what an experience. I love the birds on the back I bet they where not afraid of you ,at least not with their chaperone :)!
re - technique
I believe a wider f stop would have allowed more of the Rhino to be in focus. I think the sides are a little soft. I could not see how to post a workshop for you, but in PS I added a little green through color balance and increased the contrast a little then ran it through an unsharp mask using 100%, 1, 0 and the whole picture was lifted imho. Give it a go, I hope you will like the result.
I am particularly fond of rhinos and I like the expression you have captured here. It must have been an amazing experience to be so close. The bright sky behind is a bit distracting, but not so much that it makes this photo any less priceless :-) Very nice!
