Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Park is an amazing place. We found ourselves seeing more animals here than Kruger NP and getting much closer to all of them.
It is the oldest game park in South Africa, located 250 km from Durban and famous for Operation Rhino, credited with saving this species from extinction. In 1960 the white rhino population in South Africa was around 500, today it is over 5000. The park is now focusing its efforts on black rhino conservation.
The big 5 (Lion, Leopard, Rhino, Buffalo, and Elephant) can all be found here and the hilly topography makes it more scenic than the southern sections of Kruger.
On our visit the zebras in particular were getting very close to the car, this one waited until we slowly rolled past before crossing the road. |

Fantastic shot Mark, very original POV, and the title is spot-on. :)
The details are very good, nice and sharp, even if taken in a mirror.
