[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
As their name suggests these guys can dance...it took alot of effort to get a picture of this unusual damselfly. Before my visit I had seen this species in books and I really hoped I could find it. It doesn't look like a typical damselfy in many respects, it has a short, broad abdomen and is more robustly built than most damselflies.

This damselfly occurs near running streams and rivers, in bush or forest on river banks, in rocky areas or occasionally sandbanks. It is not found by standing water.

As far as I know this is the first time this has been on TN so I'm very pleased about that. As I ssaid it took alot of effort to get this and for this shot I had to cross to the middle of the river where there were some rocks. I had to lay down on the rocks and got very wet and dirty doing so.

I did spot a female but she is a very non-descript brown and extremely difficult to follow.

I hope you like it.

An exquisite shot, Paul. The colors are stunning. The details are super sharp and the POV is excellent. Congratulations and TFS. : )

What? NO crocodiles in that river Paul? Or was this fellow more important than you arms and legs, or your life?

He is wonderfully sharp and colurful, and bravo on being the 1st on TN. It is an excellent shot Paul, well done.

That's what I like about you :) You are able to do things that most people would call well, a bit weird, just to take your perfect shot.
And again the results were worth all the effort.
Photo is simply perfect and simply beautiful.
I like it very much!

Great sharpness for this first timer on TN. Nice pose but maybe a bit dark around the body. interesting colour combo on the legs. Well done.

A great capture, well done on being the first with this shot. Its a really interesting dameselfly, I really like the chosen composition. I just with the thorax and head were clearer, they look quite dark. My eye is also drawn to the dark bg at the top of the sreen.
Sounds like you had fun catching this one. SA eh? blimey, alright for some.
Thanks for posting.

Hi Paul,
this is so interesting, I've never seen such colours on a damselfly. Looks like painted with turquoise colour and dressed with red socks ;-) Excellent shot of a pretty insect, thank you very much

Nice to see a post from you again Paul and what an unusual species you have captured here - first time I have ever seen one of these. Without your note I would say it was a darter of some sort. It is a real beauty and worth the effort. Outstanding colours and the quality is as always excellent.
