Gerhard and I got up very early in the morning to look for kingfishers, unfortunately we did not find any and the weather was overcast. I thought I may as well take advantage of the situation and I spied this Reed Cormorant drying its wings. The Early sun through the mist and cloud gave a nice effect - I think. I'm pretty certain on the ID and maybe Gerhard can confirm or tell me I'm incorrect.

Very arty picture Paul. Colours of sky are great and pose of cormorant looks impressive. Somehow nostalgic mood. What do you think about cutting bottom part of picture [with grasses] ?

Great work.

Good silhouette, this cormorant, I love the shadow effects, I just posted one from Africa myself today!

Outstanding shot Paul. I really like the monochrome effect made by the light and the pov. Sharpness is very good as well as the handling of the light. Composition is excellent.

Superb shot.
