I wan to dedicate this photo to one of the best treknature landscape specialists Paul Haynes PaulH

It is another Genesis file. The LP Wind & Wuthering from 1977 was inspired by a novel Wuthering Heights. When I am looking at this photo it reminds me the cover of this album that was designed by Colin Elgie from Hipgnosis group.

Hipgnosis was a British art design group that specialized in creating cover art for the albums of rock musicians and bands, most notably Pink Floyd, Genesis, Led Zeppelin, Def Leppard, Yes, Styx, and Black Sabbath. Hipgnosis consisted primarily of Storm Thorgerson, Aubrey Powell and, later, Peter Christopherson. The group dissolved in 1983, but Thorgerson still works on album designs.

Wuthering Heights is Emily Brontė's only novel. It was first published in 1847 under the pseudonym Ellis Bell, and a posthumous second edition was edited by her sister Charlotte. The name of the novel comes from the Yorkshire manor on the moors on which the story centres. (As an adjective, wuthering is a Yorkshire word referring to turbulent weather.)

Fog is a cloud in contact with the ground. Fog differs from other clouds only in that fog touches the surface of the Earth. The same cloud that is not fog on lower ground may be fog where it contacts higher ground such as hilltops or mountain ridges. Fog is distinct from mist only in its density. Fog is defined as cloud which reduces visibility to less than 1 km, where as mist is that which reduces visibility to less than 2 km.

Growler is a piece of ice that floats on the water. The name comes from the sound they make as they scrape along sheets of ice as the water rises and falls.

Growler size: Height: less than 1 metre (3 feet) Length: less than 5 metres (16 feet)

PS. There is another album title here. Genesis Files is Steve Hackett (former Genesis guitar player) album from 2002.

Hi Chris,
At first glance, I thought I spied another mis-spelled title ;)
Thanx for the information, great notes..
I like the composition, with the ice flow wandering through the FG in an "S" pattern..It kinda points the way to the glacier & mountains ahead :)
Great exposure in this low light, and the slight blue tone works for me..
Very well done.

Interesting landscape/ Well done!

You are giving us your images of the Antarctica in smaller doses at a time, Chris. Is it okay to call you by that name?
The image is very powerful and evokes the real feel of the forlorn region.
Your note also makes an intersting read.
TFS and regards.

Hi Krzysztof, fascinating view from Antartide with splendid light and nice colors, great composition, very well done, ciao Silvio

Hello Krzysztof,
Fantastic picture. Thanks for bringing back these memory to share with us. This image is sharply focus. POV and composition are great. Also thanks for your informative note.

Hi Krzysztof,
Just marking it and will come back with a proper critique later. Clearing my huge backlog first, ha ha ha.

Hello Krzysztof,
Antaritca offers so many pictures opportunities; this is a different and fascinating world. This is a beautiful scenery and yes it reminds me of those album's covers a lot :) Those pastel tones of colors, sky, composition and DOF look majestic. This is a superb and complete post. Thanks,
Claudine

Hello Krzysztof,
Another fine capture of that fascinating mixture of bright light and gloom in those antarctic lattitudes. I like the composition of greys and blues with the mountainous skyline peeping through. Excellent note too.
Well done and have a nice weekend, mf.

Hello Krzysztof,
A rough landscape but full of beauty!
Amazing light adds atmosphere, and the different tones of blue tell about the coldness...
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Krzysztof,

Lovely landscape - the composition is great with the zig-zag of ice taking you through the picture. Nice details and colours too.

Kind regards,

MIke

Well that cleared that up! I've wondered what the difference between fog and mist is and now I know! This is a nice blue, cold shot. The foreground ice makes for a nice compositional lead-in.

Hi Krzysztof,
Looks cold. Would be interesting to experience the type of life style of the area, at least for a while. Very well captured with great exposure, POV and color. Very well done.

Hello Krzysztof, Very interesting landscape you have captured. I like the scene and its sorrounding. Ganesh

Czesc Krzysiu!
Kapilatne! Do tego ponury klimat, niemal tracajacy groza - gdyby nie malenski przeswit bialego nieba w glebi kadru :)
Notka tradycyjnie juz bardzo dobra :)
Pozdrawiam,
Radek

Nice and stunning landscape image, by seeing this picture I really feel the chill wheather down there, good composition, brightness and contrast, the thin "s" shape of ice flow in the foreground somehow adding an artistic value to this shot, tfs

wow,
what a lovely shot, the nature at it best, i liked the way you have managed the exposure here, beautiful natural colours, good pov,
well done
tfs & regards

Hi Krzysztof
wow...it means alot to me to have this dedictaion, as this is a place that i have been obsessed with since a very young age! To go here in person would be a life's dream that never seems to get any closer to reality so this is the next best thing. The way you've used the ice to fill the foreground is great, and the bleak, almost blue light is just how i imagine this almost alien landscape to be...very good work, thanks. Great note too!
Paul

You have sent us frozen so soon and summer just now ends? wow did you capture a mood and a weather climate well in this shot. It looks forlorn.Magnificent job of combining mood and picture.

Hi Krzysztof!

I'm happy to discover this beautiful photo. I found it by chance while I was surfing for a while through TN. I would like to tell you that I like it very much, especially for the peaceful atmosphere it evokes to me. The colors and the lighting are wonderful and smooth. Although the color tones are cold, an appeasing emanation comes from the picture. I also like the composition very much: the broken ice leads us to the line of the mountains and clouds.

A masterpiece of landscape pictures.

Kind regards

Markus

Witam po raz kolejny,
Dobry tytul :-) Ciekawa kompozycja - w zasadzie horyzont dzielacy kadr na pol to blad w sztuce bo wprowadza zbyt duzo statyki do obrazu. Tutaj mozna byloby zwiekszyc nieco udzial czesci dolnej kosztem gornej czesci nieba gdzie niewiele sie dzieje. Niemniej jednak ogolny wyraz zdjecia (zimne, martwe kolory, mgla) dobrze gra z taka kompozycja podkreslajac wrecz wrazenie pustki, samotnosci i smierci. W skrocie - bardzo fajna fotka.
Serdecznosci,
Misio
