I had very little time last week and I dint make to many critiques and comments. I am still very busy (a lot of work :-) that is why I post another photo from Antarctica. (I promise that I change the subject and Macedonia will be posted soon :-)

It is not a black and white image it is a color photo. Sometimes Antarctica just looks black and white :-)

Antarctica is Earth's southernmost continent, overlying the South Pole. It is situated in the southern hemisphere, almost entirely south of the Antarctic Circle, and is surrounded by the Southern Ocean. At 14.4 million square kilometers (5.4 million sq mi), it is the fifth-largest continent in area after Asia, Africa, North America, and South America. Some 98% of Antarctica is covered by ice, which averages at least 1.6 kilometers (1.0 mi) in thickness.
On average, Antarctica is the coldest, driest and windiest continent, and has the highest average elevation of all the continents.
The name Antarctica comes from the Greek antarktikos, meaning "opposite to the Arctic."

Antarctic Flora
There are more than 200 species of lichens and approximately 50 species of bryophytes, such as mosses. Seven hundred species of algae exist, most of which are phytoplankton. Multicolored snow algae and diatoms are especially abundant in the coastal regions during the summer. There are two species of flowering plants found in the Antarctic Peninsula: Deschampsia antarctica (Antarctic hair grass) and Colobanthus quitensis (Antarctic pearlwort).

Czesc Krzys,
No to zdjecie jest niesamowite.
Piekny kontrast pomiedzy posepnymi brzegami i niebieskawym lodem w wodzie.
Serdecznosci,
Michal

Hi Krysztof

Very good from your side to underline that it's not a b&w :)) Some people (especially the ones who have my kind of problems with colors) might think it's that looking at the thumbnail.
But, even if it were one, it would still be very beautiful.
I really like the perspective here and the very heavy atmosphere in this landscape.
The water from the FG doeas well to bring a little color in the scene, but it is eclypsed by the amazing rocks and snow from the distance - element with a lot of geometry in the composition here.
Superb work!

Bravo and TFS

A fascinating place. One which might be best for folk as yourself to picture. I wouldn't last there for a day in my best years. Beyond certain species, seeing other living creatures is more than likely ...unlikely. I reckon we know how many people are on the continent at any given time. The blue chunks of ice give a special added touch.

Amazing view again, Krzysztof, it is a magical place, you can be so lucky that you saw this place, thanks for sharing it with us

Hi Krzys,

I think this is the most atmospheric of your antarctic postings, and favourite so far. As you say, it could almost be a B&W picture,it's just the subtle blue of the water and floating ice giving it away. Very effective.

Kind regards,

Mike

what a scary idea, just imagine you wake up one day and your are only in b&w...*g*
hm, no B&W - where has the color gone? the Antarctica seems to be an amazing place.
what a landscape, wow, nothing for me i guess, i like it warm.
anyway, great shot, again, always nice to see such far away spots which i guess i will never visit..but who knows.
thanks & best wishes, thor.

Hi Chris,
Your title is excellent! This landscape is very mysterious! The fog (or low clouds) and mountains seems really in B&W and foreground in soft colours! Very beautiful. DOF is excellent!
Regards,

Claude

Hi Krzysztof,
Wonderful landscape from Antarctica. This could be a black and white picture except for some blue ice sheets floating in the foreground. Great pov and composition. Very well done.

Osobiście nieco bym wyprostował zdjęcie bo choc rozumiem kształt przeciwległej linii brzegowej, to jednak zabieg ten dobrze by tutaj zadziałał. Kadr ładny, szeroki. Mgiełki nad wzgórzami świetnie uplastyczniają przestrzeń.
Pozdrawiam serdecznie,
Jurek

Hola Krzysztof,

Hi Krzysztof,
excellent photo of the frigid coastline capturing the remoteness and climate of the area. Very informative note. Very well done.

Hi Krzysztof,
only the floating block of ice gives us any idea that this isn't a black and white photo..isn't nature amazing? Very moody shot, love the low instense clouds and Zebra like stripes of snow on rock towards the left of the shot. Very well done.

Hi Krzysztof, fascinating view with splendid sky full of clouds, great composition like a B&W, very well done, ciao Silvio

Witam!
Pozdrowienia,
Radek

Had to go back to this one after looking at your latest picture, Chris.
If the slightly bluish green of the ice chunks floating on water had not been there, I too would have thought it was a B&W picture.
Another superb picture of Antarctica in one of its strange moods.
