Hello everybody
Today I want to present you the picture taken during the most beautiful morning that I saw in the Antarctic.
It was chilly, quiet, sunny morning (as you can see) - the surrounding colours were perfect. We were staying overnight with our ship in Ezcurra Inlet (shallower part of Admiralty Bay) - in the picture you can see Dufayel Island that is in this bay. In the workshop I've put panoramic view of the Dufayel Island and the rest of Ezcurra Inlet.

Our expedition to the Antarctic was connected with 4th International Polar Year (IPY) that started on 1st of March 2007.
IPY it is a big scientific programme that focus on the Arctic and Antarctic. The 1st IPY was organized in 1882-83 and at the beginning it focused more on geophysics. In this International Polar Year 228 projects are held and in these projects scientists from over 60 nations take part.
The topics of the projects are geography, biology and many others as well as education and social themes.
If you are more interested in this programme visit the website: www.ipy.org

What we were doing in the Antarctic? We were a group of biologists that are studying the invertebrate communities in the ocean. As we cooperate with another group of scientists that works in the Arctic we are going to compare two Polar fjords - Admiralty Bay in the Antarctic and Hornsund, Spitsbergen - in the Arctic. The IPY is going to finish in March 2009 (it lasts more than 12 months) and that time I hope our comparison will be ready ;)

Thanks for attention and enjoy the picture.
Ania

Hi Ania,
This is a very impressive image!
So imposing, I like the way the colour of the mountain stand out from the snow all around.
The light there and reflections on the quiet water made of this picture a very special one.
It's a really pleasure to view your presentation.
My compliments and thanks for share it.
Best regards,
JM

Hi Ania

Warm light in the antarctics...Nice! :)...now that's something to take advantage of, and you did exactly that and brought back a splendid picture!
I really like the refection of this cliff and the way you've balanced the exposure here.
The worhshop shot is also very beautiful and, in fact, i think i like the composition there better :)
Anyway, very nice work!

Bravo and TFS

Hej Aniu!
Kolejna swietna fotka z wyjatkowego miejsca.
Pozdrawiam,
Radek

Hi Ania.
I can only imagine how it could be waking up to such a beautiful scene like this.
You captured the reflections like an art form. The sunlight is at a very good direction, and the colours are soft. A very impressive shot.

Best regards.

Hello Ania,
A wonderful light is blessing the rugged landscape!
A well balanced composition with attractive colours, where the warm light softens the rugged wilderness...
A fine atmosphere, a pleasant reflection!

Hello Ania,
Indeed this was a beutiful morning, and due the color cast from the sun it appears to be warm, at least warmer than normal. The reflections of the rocks submerged are beautiful, as is the total image presented to us. The snowfield appears to be a winter playland, untouched by all.
Excellent Post...
Steve
