This is a great capture and worth the wait. The elephant seals along our coast like to throw sand over themselves too. I'd think these pebbles would be a bit more trouble. The snout looks different than the elephant seals I'm familiar with but I am no expert on sea mammals.

Another great shot from Antarctica!
I love the expression on that face, and you did a great job of catching that wet sand flying. I have taken many shots of elephant seals on the California coast, and they do the same thing. The whole rookery would be fuzzy with flying sand. It is a funny sight.
Anyway, great shot! Really sharp details.
Great contrast against the blue sky.
And a wonderful LOW POV.
