Another shot from the Antarctic. The previous one was Blue Antarctic. These time a gray shot. It is not BW shot its color.

Gray colour

Environmentalism
Greys has been used pejoritavely by environmentalists to describe technophiles as being those who like granite, concrete and other city materials, as opposed to using the term "greens" to describe those in favor of environmentalism.

Ethics
In a moral sense grey is either used
-pejoratively to describe situations that have no clear moral value, or
-positively to balance an all-black or all-white view (for example, shades of grey = magnitudes of good/bad).

Journalism
The "Grey Lady" is the nickname of the New York Times

Military
-Grey was the color of the Confederate Army uniforms in the American Civil War, a war sometimes called "The Blue and the Grey".
-Naval camouflage using shades of grey were employed during the World Wars because of advances in Naval Warfare.
-Feldgrau (field grey) was a common color of Wehrmacht uniforms.
-Urban camouflage is composed of patches of shades of grey, while woodland camouflage uses ranges of brown and green.

Religion
In the Christian religion, grey is the color of ashes, and therefore a biblical symbol of mourning and repentance, described as sackcloth and ashes. It can be used during Lent or on special days of fasting and prayer.

Sociology
Grey symbolizes mediocrity, the background noise of society.

UFOs
Tiny grey aliens, with large, tear-shaped black eyes are referred to as "little greys" in popular UFO conspiracy theories and in science-fiction.

Hello Krzysztof,
this is a superb image of this grey Antarctic landscape.
You've exposed it perfectly using the Rule of Thirds to its best.
Superb clarity and detail.
It's amazing this isn't a colour shot!
Imagine living in a place like this all your life and never seeing colour! I suppose in summer it brightens up a bit though :-)
Great work.
Cheers,
Joe

Czesc Krzysztof! Piekna minimalistyczna kompozycyja. Krajobraz urzekajacy, az ciarki przechodza po plecach ze strachu. Klaniam sie!

Hi Chris,
A beautiful capture of this lovely snowscape. Very well composed with very good and informative notes. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Brrr Krzysztof, how much snow!
Glacial composition with superb mountain, I like it, ciao Silvio

Hejka!
Pozdrawiam,
RJ

Hi Krzysztof,
Wonderful shot again of the Antartic. Nice muted colours and lighting and the difficult landscape is aptly illustrated here. It takes a bit of heart to be there and you have a big one it seems. Great effort and the image is neat and sharp. Excellent POV and composition. Kudos.
TFS.

How cold it seems to be down there, ouf! It is a great picture though, very well captured, we FEEL the cold and desolation of this place. It's as if there is no way to escape. A very talkative image, I like it a lot. Thanks!

Hi Krzysztof.
Nice idea to represent the ataractic views in different way. Few of the people can visit this places. You are our eyes. Despite the grey key of execution you managed to reflect the beauty of the landscape. I like great composition of the picture and framing. I also like crisp sharpness of all details which are so suitable for those. Places. My best wishes and kind regards.
Alexei.

Hi Krzysztof,
what an amazing scene! I love the bleak quality you have caught here, it looks so inhospitable yet beautiful. Nicely framed and i like the flat light which adds to the mood.

Hello Krzysztof

A bleak image of the frozen world you bravely visit.
The temperatures I know first hand, the snow too,but the isolation and rugged terrain I do not.
A lovely shot that captures the feel of the place. It almost looks like another planet.
Well exposed with very good detail.

Rob

I can visualize the grey ambience to this Antarctic landscape, Chris. I have seen this phenomenon in the Everest region at high altitude during inclement weather.
This is a wonderful image that conveys the feel of the place through your excellent camera work.
Thanks and regards.
