Macaroni Penguins population on the Word: 12 millions,
Macaroni Penguins visits neighborhood of Arctowski Station, during my 15-th month stay in Antarctica: 4 (FOUR).

Macaroni Penguin is the largest penguin from six species of crested penguins. This penguins are living more north from South Shetland Island – more in subantarctic regions like a Falkland, South Georgia, Scotia Arc. or Kergulen Island.

Just before Christmas 2005 one Macaroni showed up for few hours in Adelie Penguin colony next to our station. I was going to take pictures of Adelie penguin chicks but in first small rounded colony I found this Macaroni Penguin stuck to other penguin species group. I was so happy to see this penguin, it was only adult one (other 3 I saw were one year old) I saw during my stay in Antarctica.

Again a nice capture from the south,a super capture with excellent sharpness and colors,when I saw this posting I thought that the weather was changed a lot in a few days,from snowstorm to a sunny day,but later I realized that this capture was from previous year,tfs
