[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This was actually a disheartening discovery. I had students writing nonfiction essays on endangered species. Last weekend I went to the Shanghai zoo to take some photos, and the sign on this enclosure was "South China Tiger" and that jogged a memory of one of my student's writings so I went back to the source we got the information from.

According to www.panda.org (WWF) these tigers are "thought to be the ancestor of all tigers, South China tigers number only 30-40 individuals according to the last estimates. The subspecies may be gone from the wild as no new sightings or signs have been recorded in recent surveys. Hope for their survival remains slim as there is no adequate habitat or prey left."

I could not decide between this picture of the tiger walking in to the future or his total disappearance.

CS2- crop, curves, contrast/saturate a bit and a touch of sharpness.

Hi Cody, such a magnificent animal - and you have captured him beautiful with such clarity. Your story is yet another sad one of how we have destroyed beautiful creatures because of greed. You are so fortunate to have seen this rare animal - hopefully there is hope for their survival as there are so many doing incredible work. TFS

He has a such a pensive expression, with what you have written about these tigers-I keep returning and looking at this picture. Maybe he is contemplating his future, too.

Nice capture of the tiger,

hope these fascinating animals will survive... We already lost so many species!

Composition is also very good
