nice focus good colors nice background, no obvious sign of the dust. How do you get the bug to land and stay still long enough to get a tripod shot?

This really must have been a nighmare to you, but you have done a superb job on cleaning this image up by cloning all these small dark spots of dust out.
My compliments!!!!
Don't know what I would have done if this would have happen to a whole series of my images................pfffffffffffffff...............just don't want to think about it.
To the (cleaned) imge now: It's a very beautiful one with most wonderful warm colors, great composition and perfect sharpness.
A real joy to look at, but I personally would have done one more thing and that is soften the background a bit more by using Neat Image, NoisWare or Noise Ninja.

It is such a nightmare to have dust particles on the CCD. Good to learn that it has been cleaned properly now. This is a fabulous shot of this colourful damselfly. Bright colour tones and very impressive sharpness. The lighting and focus is absolutely perfect. I like your POV and those gorgeous eyes. Very nicely composed. Kudos.

Yes, CCD does get dirty sometimes in a sort of inexplicable way, Matt. I have experienced it quite a few times myself. Well, PP work is the only way to get rid of the unwelcome intruders into your frame :-).
I must say that you have done a neat job of improving the image. There are no tell-tale marks I can spot. The macro of the damselfly is immaculate in terms of sharpness and colours.

hello matthew,
all your efforts in using the editing software to remove the spot are worth it, this macro is a stunning one, the focus is perfect, sharp image with very good details, the bg is soft and has beautiful shades of light and dark adding to the look of the picture, composition is fine, point of view is suitable,my most , favourite part of this image is the colours of the plant , the insect and the bg,the colours look beautiful in this shot,

This is really great, fantastic colours and great sharpness. It looks quite fluorescent! You've sure managed to deal with the dust but looking at the original it would be interesting to hear what post-processing you've done to this initially very plain shot.
