[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This photo was taken about 2 months ago. The tree these caterpillars are on was also covered by about 50 of their siblings. The small tree was almost completely devoured. I walked past the same tree about 2 days ago and it is beautiful and leafy green again which was nice to see. It made me wonder what kind of stress does something like a horde of caterpillars have on a young developing tree. After seeing the tree again possiblly the caterpillars are benefical for new grow and strengthening of a young developing tree. However apart from the tree these caterpillars provided and excellent oppotunity for my camera to devour more than a few photos.

oh my.
that's alot of 'aliens' on one tree!
Very nice greens all over.. looking slimy because of the flash i think.
Anyway, this picture is very 'in my face' and i guess it sorta works! Good compo.

Hi Matthew.- Nice and clear photo of this Caterpillars. They are pretty much alike the one I have posted just the other day.Luis52.

And here are more of your fascinating caterpillars..or as the kids call them.."callipitters" : ) Your photo is almost abstract art...a study in greens. I like it a lot.

Hi Matthew,
Splendid shot of this devouring caterpillars. They are born to eat and eat fast - I know it the hard way because I have a small part of our garden with butterfly host plants and never ever seen it in full bloom. Nevertheless I enjoy their presence because I know that the butterflies will come next. Very neat and sharp with nice colours and focus. The spikes are awesome and they look really scary. Very nicely composed. Kudos.
TFS.
