[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Had a great time watching this fellow at the zoo seeing the change in body position associated with eating from plants near the ground. The legs are splayed out to the sides just to get the head low enough to reach the ground. Interestingly the changes in arterial blood pressure associated with such a movement are astounding as the giraffes brain is about 1.6m above its heart. To move the head from a position below the heart where gravity can greatly assist flow to the brain and vessels can dilate slightly is a dramatic change from head raised. When the giraffe raises its head it must have a extreme constriction of capillaries in vessels other than the head to force blood up that 1.6m to the brain, otherwise our poor giraffe would faint every time he raised his/her head to feed. Think about that the next time you have to go from a prolonged crouch to standing tall!

You captured great moment - funny face :)
I like composition and DOF.
Good colours.
Well done.

Wonderful image, note, and title, Chris.
I have seen the same stance as you describe, with legs splayed and it is funny to watch, however, I was not aware of the physical elements involved. Thank you for teaching me a new thing today. Great posting.

Great shot Chris!
The "face" of this fellow looks great and you've captured it with very good POV and composition.
I like it very much.
Well done!

Great capture of a funny expression! I might want to boost up the brightness/contrast on this one - just a tad dark for my taste. Excellent blurred BG. TFS! -Jenn

Belle et amusante composition photographique pour cette Girafe qui fait une drôle de tête. Jolies couleurs et bonne netteté.
Fun & Well Done !

Subiu em escada para tirar foto da cabeça? Bom portrait. Boa foto. Faltou um leve toque em saturação.
