[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Dear all,

This photo of Youngia japonica, also known as Japanese Hawkweed, was taken on April 3.

The rains came unexpectedly and heavily. As I was about to leave, it stopped instantly. Here is what I've got from the search for beauties among the weeds.

Youngia is an Asiatic genus of Asteraceae. There are several weed species in the genus including the endangered Youngia nilgiriensis Babcock from Sispara and Youngia japonica, which is also known as Japanese Hawkweed.

Youngia was first described in 1831 by H. Cassini, and the genus was later united with Crepis. Taxomonic and cytogenetic studies by E. B. Babcock and G. Ledyard Stebbins led to the reclassification of the genus in the 1930s.

Hello Man Yee,

You have made a fine photo closer to atr photo than to scientific one. You have chosen shallow DOF showing sharp only a small part of the flower but creating a very nice and artistic effect. The colors of the flowers are making a well chosen contrast with the darck background.

An interesting viewpoint, combined with a limited DOF produced an effect as if the flowers were hanging in mid-air Man Yee, the colour harmony is also perfect my friend, TFS this beauty indeed!

Hello Man Yee,
Beautiful photo with a great DOF. The sharp focus is limited (f4.5) but it gives the photo this depth. Excellent matching colours, also in the OOF BG.

My Wong, the only thing I could suggest to make this beautiful photo better is to enhance the contrast a bit. And then maybe sharpen it to keep the focus at its main point. This can be accomplished in most any photo software you have have at your disposal. For example see my photo of "Koloful Koi". I had to sharpen this twice in order to bring out the clarity of the scales on the fish. Otherwise the fish seemed to be a bit out of focus.
