This moth looks strange, it's male, the flower on his tail send out something in the air, to attract female, and his tail turn left and right no stop.

Best wishes

Hello John,
Your macro of this pyralid moth is well-composed and sharp with limited DOF, despite the small aperture, but you focussed on the right areas. well done!
TFS, regards, Ivan

Hello John
Wonderful shot of this marvellous and curious thing. I had never seen it and I must thank you for showing it. The shot is perfectly achieved in sharpness, light, colour and composition. Thank you very much
Best wishes

Very different moth, this, John. I guess this is a novelty on TN.
You have captured the parts that are of special interest in this picture. The flower-like tail, for instance. Even the face, the eyes and those long flat antennae look very interesting to me.
Well done and TFS.

Hello John,
How incredible, I've never seen anything like this before. Excellent focus on the weird eye and the moving tail! Very interesting!
Thanks, Ulla

Wow - John - this is marvelous.
The glance in the wings is beautiful, so delicate and fantastic - and this "flower" - wow - unbeleavable - I wish I could see it flying.
Thanks and greetings

Hello John,

A very nice shot! It's a female of Cryptographis sp. (Crambidae, Pyraustinae), previously known as Diaphania (a junior synonym), very probably C. indica, a pest of various Cucurbitaceae, including cucumber and melon. There's a number of very similar species, though...

Best regards,
Dmitry
