| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
| This big mantis surprised me completely. I was taking photos of a small mantis at about ground level and trying really hard to get the best angle. As I was changing positions slightly, I looked to my right and there is this mantis about 15cm long looking striaght at me from about 2 feet away. Actually closer than the one I was photographing at the time. I guess it really pays to check the area around you thoroughly before setting up. Although it is nice to be surprised. |

an excellent shot on this Mantid. Your fill flash exposure looks spot on here. The colors and detail look very good. It is amazing how well they blend into the surrounds for being such a unique looking creature.
