[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Yesterday was Sunday and i was expecting some shots of butterflies as these days lot of butterflies are seen here.

After looking around the bushes and the flowers this small butterfly caught my attention. This was a very fresh specimen resting on the ground sipping water from the wet surface. To shoot this butterfly i had to lie down on the ground and use my elbows like a tripod and took a couple of shots. I never realised that changing pov could be so difficult sometimes as moving with the elbows on the ground was tough but finally when i saw the shot on the screen i was quite happy.

The butterfly was doing an interesting behavior called "puddling". On hot summer days, in a mud puddle we can find butterflies. These butterflies congregate around the edge of the mud puddle, and sip from the mud. Some mud puddles will have dozens, even hundreds of butterflies.

Hello Pankaj,
a very detailed and sharp picture of the butterlfy. Single redbrown scales on the wings can be clearly identified.
Best wishes, Peter

Hello Pankaj,
this looks very similar to the Clouded Yellow that you get in england.
This photo is fantastic!
+++ Excellent POV showing the whole wing. An effective close crop and a great composition. Vivid colours from the butterfly which have been enhanced by the dark BG. You have handled the exposure very well. Great detail highlighting every vein on the wing.
--- Nothing :)
Well done,
Joe

Hello Pankaj,
I hope you didn't get too muddy while shooting this one.
You achieved a fine POV with great sharpness and the use of flashh has produced a good contrasting BG. Excellent composition and detail and apart from the proboscis it's nice to see all six legs at once.
Well done and TFS!
have a good week,
Ivan

hi Pankaj
fantastic macro shot of this yellow butterfly, the DOF is outstanding, and the contrast perfect.

The vast landscape of flying creatures in India certainly can occupy ones spare time in picture taking. India appears to me, through some of your pictures of butterflies, to be a country full of color. It is no wonder then why the native Indian peoples wear such beautiful mixed colors in clothing.

As per your picture....well you know Pankaj, it is another of your fine images...and you are a tenacious man who continues on doing and showing what you love.

A true nature photographer is never bothered about his/her clothes when taking difficult shots, Pankaj. Particularly those that require one to creep and crawl on one's belly.
Your "sacrifice" has paid dividends here. The image is marvellous from this perspective. Absolutely sharp details and brilliant colours.
Well done and thanks for sharing this image that cost you real effort.
