I liked the shot for the point of view as i could capture the details of the wings. The shot has been taken with Sigma 150 mm macro lens on Nikon D 80 camera. Resizing and framing done for final presentation.

Tomorrow morning i am leaving for business trip and will be back on saturday.

From wikipedia :
A dragonfly is a type of insect belonging to the order Odonata, the suborder Epiprocta or, in the strict sense, the infraorder Anisoptera. It is characterized by large multifaceted eyes, two pairs of strong, transparent wings, and an elongated body. Dragonflies are similar to damselflies, but the adults can be differentiated by the fact that the wings of most dragonflies are held away from, and perpendicular to, the body when at rest.

Dragonflies typically eat mosquitoes, and other small insects like flies, bees, ants and butterflies. They are therefore valued as predators, since they help control populations of harmful insects. Dragonflies are usually found around lakes, ponds, streams and wetlands because their larvae, known as "nymphs", are aquatic. Adult dragonflies do not bite or sting humans, though nymphs are capable of delivering a painful (though otherwise harmless) bite.

Hello Pankaj,
Very elegant dragonfly with most beautiful metallic colors on the thorax. It's a special picture showing so well the transparency of the wings. I'm just a little puzzled by the background, which I have to say, works well here.
Thanks and have a nice business trip

This shot is excellent. If you have Photoshop, I would boost the vibrance a bit and print this. Its an excellent photo that screams to be printed. Great shot.

Hi Pankaj,
Another outstanding macro image and this dragonfly looks fantastic. Immaculate sharpness and I like the details and subtle sheen on its wings. Perfect DOF and I like this POV to portray it. Excellent composition against that soothing BG.
TFS.

It is a Slender Skimmer, Pankaj. I have seen and photographed it so frequently I am quite familiar with it. A very cooperative subject. Returns to the same perch time and again.
Your POV is indeed very effective; we get to see the entire subject in perfect detail and natural colours. Your 150mm has produced a great picture and that arrangement of the little flowery perch lends extra charm to your composition.
TFS and enjoy your business trip.

WOW Pankaj,

What a lovely picture of this dragonfly! You took a wonderful pov in order to get all the fine details of the wings' nerves. I like the presence of the delicate plant and flower. Here the dragonfly is centered but it works very well for me.

Great job and TFS!

Hi Pankaj!

I missed this one, and I'm glad to discover it now! The details of the wings are simply superb and make this picture an outstanding one. Moreover, the metallic aspect of the body suits the geometrical wings very well. The samll plant contrasts well with this effect.

Kind regards

Markus
