I shot this hoverfly in flight. The flower shown is of Mimosa Pudica also known as lajwanti or chuimui. The flowers of this plant look very beautiful. Sooting this hoverfly was a bit difficult as it was sensitive to the sound of shutter and each time i clicked the hoverfly shifted from its position.

I found this mimosa pudica plant in a remote area near a water body and collected it for my small garden. It was not cultivated and i was not awarw that due to its properties ( As medicine) it is being cultivated now.
I was surprised to see the beautiful flowers of this plant.

The image has been cropped, resized and framed for final presentation. The shot has been taken with Nikon D 80 along with Sigma 150 mm macro lens. fill flash and tripod was used.

About Mimosa Pudica (Wikipedia)

(Mimosa pudica (Sensitive Plant) (pudica = shy), is a creeping annual or perennial herb often grown for its curiosity value.

The compound leaves fold inward and droop when touched, re-opening within minutes. (From Wikipedia)

About Hoverflies (wikipedia)
Flies in the Diptera family Syrphidae are commonly known as hoverflies, flower flies, or Syrphid flies.

As their common names suggest, they are often seen hovering or nectaring at flowers; the adults of many species feed mainly on nectar and pollen, while the larvae (maggots) eat a wide range of foods.

About 6,000 species in 200 genera have been described. Hoverflies are common throughout the world and can be found on every continent except Antarctica.

Hoverflies are harmless despite their mimicry of the black and yellow stripes of wasps, which serves to ward off predators. ( from wikipedia)

Now that's a new thing i learnt, the hoverfly reacting to the shutter...
Nice composition here Pankaj..the macro certainly deserves more than two smilies:):)...Apart from the hoverfly, the flower itself looks so gorggeous and attractive. I dont think i have seen tis varity of Mimosa.
The hoverfly is in sharp focus and clarity. The little brown stem in the right corner of the composition complimnts the clolour of the fly itself making the composition quite balanced.
TFS & Cheers
