This posts remind me of the good old days when i used to chase butterflies for a decent capture surprising peoples nearby.

Now a days i dont chase them but when i see a fresh specimen like this i cant stop my self getting the camera out from the store and start shooting.when i feel that the photograph is above average then i feel like sharing with my TN friends who have inspired me for taking this hobby seriously. So here i present another butterfly shot after a long break. This is my first butterfly of this season. I hope i will be able to start shooting butterflies again.

About the butterfly posted:

The Common Lime or the Lemon Butterfly (Papilio demoleus) is a common Swallowtail butterfly. The name of this species comes from the host plant which is usually lime. Unlike most swallowtail butterflies it does not have a prominent tail.

Habitat

This butterfly is generally found in savannahs, gardens, evergreen and semi-evergreen forests and shows a preference for stream and riverbeds.

In India it is mostly found in the plains but can be found on the hills of peninsular India and up to 7000 feet in the Himalayas. It is common in urban gardens and may also be encountered in wooded country.

Habits

This butterfly is an avid mud-puddler and visitor of flowers. It basks with its wings held wide open on tufts of grass, herbs and generally keeps within a metre above the ground, even on cloudy days. It relies on its quick flight for escape.

Hi Pankaj!

What a pleasure to see one of your famous pictures again and to hear from you. I'm glad you are well and don't forget your hobby.

You present us a picture in your usual quality. As you say in your notes, the picture really is above average, it simply is superb! The lighting and colour management as well as the perfect sharpness highlight the beauty of this butterfly at best. Moreover, the unity of the colour tones in the largest part of the picture creates a very pleasant effect. The green colour of the plant contrasts nicely with this unity and it seems that it does not only support the butterfly but the whole picture.

Kind regards

Markus

Hallo Pankaj
This is really beautiful. The assortment of colours and patterns on this butterflies wings is very eye-catching and striking. You have captured it well, with great focus and sharpness. I like the full framed composition. The detail of the black eye, the plumpish body of the butterfly and the green of the plant displays well against your dark backdrop. Indeed a lovely presentation. Thanks for sharing. Best regards.
Anna

beautiful retention of colours! the dark background suits this brightly coloured butterfly. Lime is one of my favourite butterflies, its hard to believe that they r considered pests on lime tree plantations! tfs :)

Hello Pankaj,
A faultless capture of P. demoleus, showing the closed wing from an ideal POV with excellent sharpness. The contrasting BG helped by the use of flash and the composition with the lantana leaves make this top class.

Hello Pankaj,

A very nice macro!
I love creating and playing the pictures.
Excellence and the description offered.
Have a beautiful day,
Adrian

The brown background makes this image Ram. Fascinating how background colours can be so important...even designs in them....I tell you that I think E Indians have this special way off seeing...perhaps it is more philosphical than sight...or perhaps a combination of both...but Buddhism would keep teh meaning simply...it is!

Ciao Pankaj, fantastic butterfly with wonderful colors, lovely blurry BG, fine details and superb sharpness, splendid macro, very well done, ciao Silvio
